University of Illinois Quad

A 360° stitch of the University of Illinois quad, as a little planet.

A much larger one is here. We stopped in Champaign on the way back from a recent trip to St. Louis, as I haven't been there in quite a few years. Driving through town Its odd to see what's changed and what hasn't.

Playing with Matches

Playing with matches, and my 7D. With a macro lens and a LOT of light, these are extremely detailed - the second photo is a 100% crop of the first, my intention is to make large-scale prints on canvas with these.

ToolCrew Van Wrap

A Van Wrap designed for Paslode Tools. Photo provided by in Dallas. This van should be driving around Home Depot locations in the DFW area very soon.

Lakefront Birdhouses

Birdhouses on the Chicago lakefront - taken with a point and shoot wallet-sized Olympus. It may not be nearly as high quality as my full cameras, but due to the small lens size it has a huge depth-of-field. I like how the three clouds mimic them.

Southwest Michigan Critters

While we were having breakfast outside of the White Rabbit Inn in Lakeside Michigan, this little guy was joining us.

Found this praying mantis outside of an antiques store in Union Pier Michigan. Luckily I had my macro lens nearby in the car.

Burnt Church

Shot in an abandoned, burnt church in Gary, IN. All shot at the exact same spot to keep the dress clean.

7-photo stitch

A 7-photo stitch of the chicago skyline, color edited and saturated. I've been meaning to shoot some large-scale panoramics like this, with the intent of having prints made on canvas and stretchers. A few more and I'll attempt a print run. I'm really looking forward to having a 3ft x 8ft version of something like this - There's so much detail, it mostly gets lost when I try to show it online.

Photo links to a 1500px-version on flickr.

I took quite a few shots of fireworks out in Lombard on the 4th, and just found this amongst them.

Empty Subway

The subway in chicago, between stops. I'm fairly sure this is just south of lake. 4 photos stitched together using autopano pro, almost a full 180° straight up to straight down. This would be an impossibly wide angle.

Bahá'í House of Worship

Bahá'í House of Worship, Wilmette, IL

I've seen pictures of this building for years, but never had a chance to go and see it. We happened to be driving south along the lake, and stopped by a few days ago.

The grounds and building are beautiful, its well worth a visit.

3 exposures combined.

Flickr Win!

The Museum of Science and Industry - formerly the Palace of Fine Arts at the 1893 worlds fair. A few trees have grown in, and a few statues are missing, but its essentially the same 116 years later. Available here. The modern digital version, click for a bigger one. titanvis_0610_sci_ind Some huge resources are putting their collections on flickr, with no known copyright on many. Like the Smithsonian, Field Museum, Library of Congress, New York Public Library, and some more links here. Many of the photos are up only within the last few months. Fascinating to look through, and a great design resource too.

Older pictures

I've been in a process of going through some of my older pictures, before I started posting them online. This was from a roll taken during college, somewhere in 2000 in the fields surrounding Champaign, IL ChampaignLIghts_8010012

Skyline, panoramic

The larger version, 6 raw images stitched together. 315mb as a jpg.

Click for the bigger one.

Lakefront Ice, HDR

I've been trying a bunch of new things lately, and in that process I've been spending a bunch of time researching new photoshop techniques. Always more to learn, there is. Toss in a few of my own methods, and I'm really liking what i've been coming up with. This was a 60° day a few weeks back, and all of the ice was breaking up. It was a great day to get out for a ride. It should be back up to the 60's next week, and I want to ride and get a lot more photos. Below: 3 RAW photos, merged, pretty heavily edited. titanvis_8747_HDR_chicago I think I have enough other shots to stitch together a panoramic from this same spot.
